Band Chairman - Paul Dering collects the prize for 2nd place

On Saturday 20th of October North Skelton Band represented the North of England at the National Brass Band Finals in the fourth section. This followed winning the Northern Area contest earlier in the year. The contest took place at Cheltenham Racecourse. On the day the band were drawn to play number nine out of nineteen.

At around half five in the evening the band took to the stage under the baton of Mr. Dennis Noble. With the adjudicators Tom Davoren and Mark Wilkinson in the box the band played their interpretation of Geoffery Burgon's 'Narnia Suite'.

This is what 4barsrest had to say:

One that really went for it and it largely paid off for them. Soloists all deserve a particular mention in this performance, some top notch playing.

Star Player

Jo Campbell and Gavin Brown on cornet and Flugel both give superb performances.

After all nineteen bands had played the results were announced. North Skelton Band had come second, Gavin Brown had won the prize for best instrumentalist.
